Fifa 10 for iPhone&iPod touch

The Gameplay of Fifa 10

The highly skilled EA Sports have been having the FIFA series going  on for over 10 years, each year they release a new, improved  product. Usually they change the gameplay, they improve the  graphics, the players, the stadiums. Every now and then, a new  console or a handheld is released, which means they release the game  for that.

Having played Fifa 10 on an Xbox 360 and a Playstation 3, I have to say there was no way I could compare them to the iPod touch’s version.

The Fifa 10 has the best handheld graphics on the Psp, the Nintendo Ds’s gameplay makes you feel like you feel as though you are playing a mobile game, and the iPod touch’/iPhone’s version has nothing better to offer than that.

Graphics:

The graphics are atrocious, after making the iPhone and iPod touch users wait so long, offering this gives me no choice but to dislike it. If this game was released last year, to last year’s standards this game would be the best game released. But right now the graphics are a massive negative for the overall score of the game. We know that most of the iPhone/iPod touch games are pretty low on graphics, however Firemint (developers of Real Racing) proved that you can have excellent graphics on the iPod touch/iPhone and still have good game play, Fifa 10 just failed to do that.

Gameplay:

Despite the graphics, the gameplay of Fifa 10 is quite above average. Whilst releasing a Fifa game for the iPhone I would have thought EA would have cut down on the features like;

  • Be a Pro
  • Tournament
  • Manager
  • Transfers
  • Commentary

But they didn’t, they released most of the features of the console Fifa 10 release, which pleased me. The in-match commentary was a plus, but not a new feature on the iPhone as X2 have already released it long before EA Sports.

Controlling the ball,passing and shooting is quite nice as you can choose your own controls. But the interface is no where near the console versions.

Overall:

After a long wait, Ea sports have finally released an iPhone/iPod touch version, the graphics are not top of the standard, but the interface itself is enough for me to recommend this game for all soccer fans. Despite all the negatives, Fifa 10 for iPhone brings you hours of fun, you get addicted to the game very soon and forget about all the negatives.

My Overall Rating: 7/10
